Energybending - A Comparison (Part 2)
We now have more evidence that Amon’s energybending is fake.
To me it looks more and more as if he is trying to recreate it from stories he has heard or read.
When he takes away Tahno’s bending we can very clearly see that there is no spiritual energy glow, neither on Tahno, nor on Amon.
Since said energy has gone no where it is safe to assume that it got locked in, not taken away.
Note how this time Amon does not touch the back of the neck.
I am sticking with my previous theory that Amon is using the Ajna chakra:
Location: Midway between the medial ends of the eyebrows Actions& Effects:
- Calms the spirit - insomnia, anxiety, stress.
- Frontal headache.
- Sinus issues - congestion, sinusitis.
When Uncle is teaching Zuko about lightning, he talks about bending needing a certain amount of inner calm. So, if you were to close that chakra and lock all the anxiety inside someone, making them incapable of being calm, that would effectively take someone’s bending away.
Quite clever actually, since the more terrified they are/become the more permanent this block will be. And Amon is sure laying it on thick.

The Chakra’s of Avatar Korra: Opening the Water Chakra
“You must gain balance within yourself before you can bring balance to the world.”
Shall we begin?
——-

This is the Water Chakra, known as the Swadhisthana. It is located at the sacrum and it’s color is vermilion or orange. The Swadhisthana deals with pleasure and is blocked by guilt and shame.

If the guilt and shame that blocks this chakra is not dealt with it can poison our energies and if left unchecked it will eat us alive. Guilt clouds our judgement pulling us away from the positive as we come to feel deep down that we don’t deserve anything positive. Negativity takes hold and overflows making it impossible to stay in balance with the the world around us and the people we care about the most.

Carrying these feelings are like climbing a mountain and for every time you hit your toe on a rock you pick it up to carry it with you. It may be simple to carry at first but as time passes the weight becomes unbearable, slowing you down and ultimately keeping you from reaching the top. In order to open this chakra you must address your guilt and your shame. What is it that you feel guilty or ashamed of?

Accept and embrace your guilt and shame for they are your feelings and these moments have happened. They are yours alone and you must face them, because in ignoring them you allow guilt a back door into your mind. Only you can control how you react and the act of examining, owning and letting go of our guilt allows us to reach a higher level in spirituality. If you stub your toe as you climb the mountain, stop and pick up the offending rock. Look at the problem, learn from it and then place it back on the ground. Become aware of the rocks that make you stumble and you will learn to recognize and avoid them.

In addition to to this (and this is the most important part) you must learn to forgive yourself. It is arguably the hardest lesson the Water Chakra has to teach, because forgiving others comes so easily in comparison to forgiving ourselves. Yet we must forgive ourselves in order to heal not only our own spirits but that of others.
